We Have Just Forgotten . . .

Not until we remember how to awaken to the cause of our forgetting and then address
it will we remember
our True Self. 

No one can doubt that the year 2012 is destined to be a year unto its own. Scholars, seers, spiritualists, theologians, psychologists, anthropologists, scientists, religious teachers, astrologists, astronomers, musicians – and just regular people – are tapping into the inevitable and unpredictable ebb and flow of 2012.

The Year of Remembering

Some call it the year of spiritual awakening, of stepping onto the next rung of our evolutionary ladder. Others call it the year of collapse, of catastrophe, of transformation, of the unknown, of the unchartered, of global ideas, predictions, and shifts, and of total surrender to the flow of change. Most agree that whatever this year brings, it will likely be a surprise.

I call 2012 the year of remembering. Remembering implies there is something we have forgotten. What is it that we have forgotten and what is it we are to remember? Clues are everywhere. If we look within ourselves and are honest about how we feel and what we see manifesting in our daily lives and in the life of our planet, we will discover what we have forgotten and thus what we are to remember.

It is time for us to realize that we are not our fragmented, fear-based human egos.
We are Beloved Sons
and Daughters of God, and we are powerful
beyond our knowing.

Remembering the Cause

What we are to remember is not the exact opposite of what we have forgotten. Rather, we are to remember the underlying cause of our forgetting.

As a simple example, let’s suppose we forgot where we put our car keys. We eventually find them after we repeat our movements throughout the day. End of story? No. To remember why we forgot where our keys were, we need to look at the cause of our forgetting. What caused us to lose our keys? Perhaps we’re overwhelmed and fearful about a conflicted family situation. Perhaps we are preoccupied with thinking about this situation and not aware of the present moment.

Remembering Our True Self

Not until we remember how to awaken to the cause of our forgetting and then address it will we remember our True Self. Patricia Cota-Robles, counselor and founder of the New Age Study of Humanity’s Purpose, describes what we have forgotten and what we need to remember in 2012:

2012 is going to be a year of wonder and awe…We have all been going through a purging process that has pushed to the surface everything in our lives that is not serving our highest good. This necessary cleansing process is often confusing and sometimes even overwhelming, but we have no other option than to walk through it.

We are not being given the luxury of ignoring our dysfunctional relationships and our negative situations any longer. If we try to, more painful things surface to get our attention and to motivate us into action. This awakening process is being orchestrated by our God Selves, which is the Divinity within us that is always striving to move us forward in the Light. If we want the insanity to stop, we must remember who we are and why we are here.

We are not being given anything that we cannot handle, and we have everything we need within
us to accomplish our
awakening.

We Are Powerful Beyond Our Knowing

The good news is that we are not being given anything that we cannot handle, and we have everything we need within us to accomplish this facet of our awakening process quickly and relatively easily. We have just forgotten how to do this. It is time for us to realize that we are not our fragmented, fear-based human egos. We are Beloved Sons and Daughters of God, and we are powerful beyond our knowing.

We can call on remembering our True Self whenever we feel fragmented and in fear in 2012. Indeed, remembering our True Self will give us the best gift of all, namely, the alignment of our personal will with Divine Will.
